I have finally set up forums (fora?) for all other fellow 'customers' of Alienware to share their pain. [Update: 2011/09/15:] The forum provider (forumity.com) seems to have disappeared, taking the forum with them. No-one used it, so no loss there. I may re-create again some time later. Comment if you'd be interested.

Well, all the attempt to hand off the domain failed, as they were people who were only in the midst of their problems and didn't have the longevity I was looking for.  I have restored the old, butt-ugly web site with my original story, and thus I will be abandoning this blog and not allowing any more comments. My next step will be to look into setting up a forum so others who have trouble with

Alienware is now refusing to sell or even quote a price for parts to people who bought machines second-hand on eBay.  Apparently they consider the machines "stolen" since they weren't bought from Alienware's store.

I haven't updated this site in a year and a half and with Dell buying Alienware, this site seems less and less relevant. I think it's time to wrap up the blog, unless someone out there want to take it over. I'll give up the domain name too, it's seems entirely irrelevant as well. Of course with the site being idle for so long, I suppose no-one will find this post either.

Based on my experience, Alienware was just incompetent at support. It would appear they are also jerks at PR and reviews, threatening to not allow access to further hardware because of a bad review. That's not quite cricket, as they say.

Unconfirmed reports say that Dell may buy Alienware. Crazily, the Slashdot story about it says "One can only hope that Alienware support and hardware won't be ill effected by this acquisition.". Actually, as you might guess, one WOULD hope that Alienware service and support would be affected.

So, I've decided to move the old crappy site to this new blogger site, so that it's easier to maintain. The first couple of posts will be round-up type posts, with much stuff dumped in them. 2006/02/13: Moved the site to blogger.com for ease of maintenance. Turns out I'm too lazy otherwise. 2005/04/28: I've finally restored the site after, what, 3 years?! 2002/03/08: Ok, I sent my response to Randolph. I got a reply from Alex Aguila, the president of Alienware. We exchanged some email on the matter. Net result -- no change. Site stays up, domain stays with me, no more interaction. I will post the email discussion (which Alex gave permission to do) soon. Oh, and the exchange rate is NOT better than when the charge went on my Visa, so I lost money
